Can anyway point me in the right direction, who to speak to with relation to Spanish property gone wrong. Cowboy Spanish Builder, Lawyer who has taken every penny from us and still no further forward. We are at end of tether and don't know who to go to for assistance in getting out of this mess.

Kind Regards

Hello, where abouts are you based?

Which lawyer have you used through out the building process?

If you can give us a little more information, we might be able to point out a good lawyer with a good reputation that is completely independant from working alongside Real Estate agents.

I know we are estate agents, however - we always advise potential clients to get an independant solicitor, for piece of mind but also because some solicitors are connected in a business sense to real estate agencies and they get a kick back from the agent when they sell a property.

Better to get a lawyer that is independant.

Hi Jacquie1,

I  am a qualified Spanish Lawyer, a member of the Barcelona Bar Association - Colegio de Abogados de Barcelona - now living in the UK. I am fluent in English as well as Spanish and have been consulting to UK nationals for some time.

From your post seems that  you are having some problems with a spanish property and your lawyer -well I'm not sure what is happening there. In my experience a lot of the problems that arise with buying in Spain are to do with language and misunderstandings that result from this and secondly using lawyers that are not truly independent, either being recommended by the Developer or by his estate agent. I assume that your lawyer is independent, correct?

If you would like a second opinion I'm happy to let you know my views if you "fill me in" on the problem. I don't like to get involved with another lawyers case generally but I'm  happy to goive you whatever guidance I can in the background and if I think I can directly help then I'll tell you that.

If you would like to write to me about this matter please use my private email address which is Ortiz-Fonseca@spanishpropertylawuk.com

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Claudia
