Hi All,

This is my experience with one law firm when i started legal proceedings against Seattle Ski with Solicitorbulgaria and used Ms Verzhiniya Dakova.  The reason i used this lawyers firm was on a recommendation of a friend of mine who is using them on the coast in a dispute with Platinum in Sunset Resort.  An irish guy called me, Noel Donovan, went through all the history of there firms dealing with Platinum, so i though it would be best to use some with lots of knowledge and an irish contact, i thought its time to take action.

So had to pay €5000 up front and was told they had many more clients and as i group we would put a charge against the site and then get it liquidated and get our money back (other investors would who were not with us would loose everything, but that the risk they take).  I was told this process would take 12 months and my total exposure would be €12,000, but i would get these fees back, as well as my original €67,000 invested.  So got the odd e-mail and call, to be told things are going well and lots more people were joining, then 5 months ago they sent me a letter informing me the court case had started and to pay another €5,000, that i could expect this all to be wrapped up by the end of the summer, i though excellent, would get my money back and learned a valuable lesson.  But the lesson was yet to be learned.

I got the offer from a Mr Sullivan, Manager of Seattle Ski about selling the development and refunding some clients money, so i thought i will ring and see whats on offer as it always handy to know what the competition was up to, i found him a little blunt on what was on offer and what we would expect to get back.  I informed him that i would require back my investment, plus my legal expenses to date and he told me that there would be no chance at all of this, that the tax authorities had a charge on the site and if it was not cleared then they could auction off the whole site and i could end up with nothing.  Now this was news to me, i had never been informed of any charge on the site.  I asked him that is the site sold for more then they tax authorities were owed, surely there would be money left in the company, he agreed that this would be possible.  I told him that i was already in court against Seattle Ski, he told me that i was not (know he had been a little blunt up till now, but i certainly did not read him as a liar).  He informed me that no new legal cases had been filled in court this year and that there were currently 5 filed against the company, he asked me did not lawyer proved me with a file number, i said that i did not remember seeing one. He asked who was my lawyer and i told him Ms Dakova from Bulgariasolicitors.  Know when he said "not another one" i felt someone walk over my grave, his next words were " how much did she catch you for" i told me what i had paid to date.  He thought €10,000 was a crazy amount to have spent and suggested i contact Ms Dakova for a full breakdown and explanation.  I told him i could drop into see there rep in Dublin Mr Noel Donovan, Mr Sullivan told me not to waste my time, that Mr Donovan was only a sales agent for them (i have never heard of a legal firm having a salesman).  I thanked him for his time and decided to get some answers.

I emailed Ms Dakova about my phone call and she called me back telling me that Mr Sullivan was telling me all lies, that my case was proceeding well, i asked her for the court number, she said she would e-mail me all the details.  One week later nothing, tried calling was told she would call me back, tried Mr Donovan, he told me that it was nothing to do with him.  So i contacted my friend who nought in sunset resort on the coast and told him what happened.  I found out that things were not going to well for him.  Apparently Ms Dakova and Mr Donovan started up a second management company in the resort and took in over €100,000 in management fees and some legal fees.  Now the existing management company have taken exception to that and cut of all water and electricity to these people (as they have been told to pay nothing by Mr Donovan) and are starting legal proceedings against the owners to pay there management fees and may put leans or charges against there apartments. My friend contact Ms Dakova and asked for his money back (as he certainly did not want to pay his management fees twice), but was informed that all the money was gone on administration, but (this is the part i find most ludicrous of all) now he had €10,000 if shares in the commercial of the resort.  My friend asked how did the new management company pay for this, he was told that they were soon going to take it all for free.

My friend got off a lot more lightly then i did for my experience, it cost him €2000 and me €10,000.  I contacted Mr Sullivan and asked him could i avail of Seattle Ski scheme, which he confirmed i could and had the good manners not to ask me about my situation.

The lesson learned is that there is no professional indemnity insurance for lawyers in Bulgaria and they can just be as unscrupulous as any salesman or developer.

Regards
Dave
